Cadbury introduces ‘There’s a glass and a half in everyone’ brand platform to Australia
Cadbury has brought its global brand platform ‘There’s a glass and a half in everyone’ to Australia, launching a television commercial created by VCCP London and Sydney.
The 30 second spot shows an elderly woman, Mrs Thompson, constantly throwing toys and sporting equipment back over the fence to her young neighbours.
One day the little boys throw Mrs Thompson a block of Cadbury Dairy Milk chocolate, explaining she doesn’t need to throw it back.
The ‘There’s a glass and a half in everyone’ brand platform aims to highlight those who go above and beyond for others.
Ben Wicks, global brand equity lead at Cadbury, said in a statement: “It’s easy to overlook those small moments that happen every day. We want to shine a light on the stories of human connection that bring people closer together in our busy world.
“Cadbury Dairy Milk’s smooth and creamy taste has been bringing enjoyment to people for decades. The new Cadbury Dairy Milk campaign is a celebration of the little moments that connect us, just because ‘There’s a glass and a half in everyone’.”
The campaign will run across TV, social, digital and sampling activations throughout the year.

What a giant step backwards.
It would be far more interesting to watch the Cadbury folk explaining to their friends what an ‘Equity Lead’ is.

Why doesnt Mrs Thompson say ‘thank you’ to the boys. No wonder young people have no manners if not taught!
Very disappointing add. Great opportunity missed.

This is my favourite add on television , just love it.
I can relate to the add having two boys , and the lady next door always throwing things back.
And I thought they said mrs Wilson, but it would not matter if it was mrs Thompson, I just love it.
Always makes me want a Cadbury chocolate.

Brilliant ad series! Absolutely love the acting by all… keeping it real- no overacting- never get sick of watching each of them, especially the latest, in which the older boy’s shocked reaction to Mrs Thompson offering some of her chocolate to them through the fence, is priceless! and the younger ‘very well mannered’ boy’s reflex “thank-you-Mrs- Thompson” is hilarious! again, wonderful acting!

Love Mrs Thompson – such a lovely tolerant lady …she still gets whats it’s like being a kid, and boys at that. Long live Mrs Thompson.

Mine too. Mrs Thompson is so cool – doesn’t overtalk it …still gets what it is to be a kid. Sweetheart neighbour.

Its chocolate not chocalate and there must be a reason why there are 2 names. Maybe Cadbury can explain.

The glass and a half thing harks all the way back to the 50s or 60s when Julius Sumner Miller (“Why is it so?”) was the face of Cadbury extolling the virtues of “a glass and a half of milk in every half-pound block of Cadbury’s Dairy Milk Chocolate.

There’s a simply beautiful follow up ad showing Mrs Thompson walking towards a gap in the fence. To the boys’ surprise and delight, she offers them Cadbury’s treats. “Oh, thanks Mrs Thompson” is expressed with such joy and natural delivery that it may have been unrehearsed!
Can’t trace the video on the Internet. Can anyone help, please?
Thanks

To me, the first few ads seemed to say “Mrs Gleeson” not “Mrs Wilson” and the last one was “Mrs Thompson”.
They’re definitely different!

They do that to draw your attention to add, sounds like it’s working

That’s to draw your attention to add, and it worked

That’s the whole idea, to draw your attention to it

Never mind Mrs Gleeson/Wilson/Thompson – WTF is “a glass and a half in everyone” supposed to mean? Did some millennial copywriter who was never taught about compound words mishear “a glass and a half in every one” (traditionally in reference to Cadbury’s blocks) and just run with it without a second thought?

It should be “There’s a glass and a half in every one”. (Everyone refers to persons) In the ad it refers to how much milk is in each block of chocolate, so it should be two words – every one.
My opinion. It irks me when I see the ad like it is, I love the chocolate.

It should be
“There’s a glass and a half in every one”
Not “Everyone.”
There’s not a glass and a half in me!
Please correct for the sake of correct spelling/grammar for our children

The ad ” There’s a glass and a half in everyone” grates every time I hear it.
” Everyone ” definitely refers to humans and not to things.” Every one ”
as separate words should be the appropriate usage for this Cadbury ad.
I note that this has been pointed out previously but he same wordage persists….Albert
