Call for Entries: 48 hour Film Project

The world’s largest timed filmmaking competition, the 48 Hour Film Project has put out a call for entries for its two state competitions, in Sydney 23 to 25 September, and Melbourne from 14 to 16 October.

Over two full days and nights, filmmakers will write, shoot, edit and score a film for entry. The winner will be flown to Taos, New Mexico to compete on an international level at the 48HFP Filmapalooza. From there, winners ranked in the top 10 will have their work screened at the Cannes Film Festival on May 16 and 17, 2012.

Fifteen minutes before kickoff on 23 September (Sydney) and 14 October (Melbourne), registered teams will be given a list of requirements; a genre, a character, a prop and a line of dialogy that they have to work into a 4-7minute film, ensuring ideas are as fresh as possible.

Sydney films willbe screened on 9 October at a  location yet to be confirmed while Melbourne films will be screened at Palace Cinema’s Kino Cinemas between 4 and 6 November with awards to be presented at a screening of the 12 best films of the 48HFP Melbourne on 11 November at the Kino Cinemas.
