Would you mind sharing what the first 2 weeks ratings were for Can of Worms? I had thought all 3 weeks were above 900,000? Not a dramatic ratings change if that’s the case.

replacing dicko with denton is about the only thing that might rescue this show

there is a definite ABC influence on Can of Worms, especially Hungry Beast (due to Denton I suppose). WOuld it be better if it were on the ABC?

Hi Lauren,
Can of Worms’ debut drew an audience 930,000; its second week, 980,000.
Cheers,

Yep, a slight ratings variation means…what?
The show seems on a par with most of the similar stuff that is lauded simply because it’s on ‘our’ ABC; if Dicko relaxes & just talks to the folk without all the contrivance, it seems as likely to survive as a mildly diverting cash cow as TBMG or 7PMP.

From a production point of view the show is getting better. The content is more interesting, the heavy handed editing from the first episode is gone and Dicko is slowly improving as host. I agree with Dave above, he is far more engaging when he’s talking naturally with the guests – it’s the clunky hosting duties that brings him undone. If he’d stop thanking the panel every five minutes he’d be halfway there.
If the show keeps hovering around the million viewers mark then Ten will keep it on – Good News Week was getting 400k or so less a week for about the same sort of money.

For a show that is as ill-conceived and executed – and cheap – as COW, I actually reckon they’re really good numbers. Long gone are the days when failure was falling under 1.2m. I never thought I’d see the day that Boder Security or an inoffensive but perfectly decent sitcom (BBT) would fall under a million and not be the angle.
