Carat to host virtual ‘Couch-ella’ festival tomorrow, featuring Roxy Jacenko, Christian O’Connell, and Nova Red Room performance

Dentsu Aegis Network media agency Carat and brand experience agency MKTG will host an invitation-only virtual festival tomorrow, featuring exercise classes, celebrity chefs, Roxy Jacenko, meditation, and a Nova Red Room session featuring DJ Regard and a surprise act.

Carat CEO Sue Squillace said Carat’s ‘Couch-ella 2020’ will offer staff, clients, and media partners the chance to connect in an “exciting way” as physical industry events continue to be paused due to COVID-19-related social distancing requirements and lockdown laws.

“We felt it was very important to enjoy some time together with a shared interest and passion for the industry we are in and to engage with our clients, staff and our media partners in a fun, unique and exciting way,” Squillace said.

“It’s so important to remain connected, stay positive and upbeat about our industry, and the opportunities media provides businesses to connect with audiences and drive the economy. This will be a united industry on show.”

Manu Feildel will make an appearance

Nine’s Liana Dubois said she has been “so impressed with how Carat has pivoted this event for the current environment in a fun and engaging way”, while Seven chief revenue officer Kurt Burnette noted that “it’s a fantastic way to bring people together in this strange time and hopefully having Manu [Feildel, My Kitchen Rules judge] cook ‘the perfect steak’ will inspire some budding chefs out there”.

Christian O’Connell will preview his upcoming podcast

Drag superstar Courtney Act will appear for a Q&A and to premiere new material developed in lockdown, NRL personality Matty Johns will discuss the league’s controversial return later this month, and Christian O’Connell and Amanda Keller will provide a sneak peek into O’Connell’s upcoming podcast series.

“ARN are excited to bring a little light entertainment to Carat, their staff, clients and media friends at such an innovative event,” said Pete Whitehead, ARN’s chief commercial officer.

“Christian and Amanda will absolutely entertain and bring their unique brand of story-telling and humour alive in this live to-air interview.”

Today Show entertainment reporter Brooke Boney will introduce a number of the sessions, joined by MC, musician and entertainer Hugo Bladel.

“Together with Olympian Cate Campbell, we are excited to give the team at Carat a real insight into adapting to life with restrictions, how to handle adversity, as well as the secrets of how to keep focused on goals and staying motivated for when we can be back in the great outdoors, playing sport and getting ready to cheer on the Australian athletes in what will be a highly anticipated Olympics return,” added QMS chief customer officer Mark Fairhurst.

Jacenko will appear at Carat Couch-ella

Daily Mail Australia will also host a session, with managing director Peter Holder explaining that, “We will chat with the coverage queen Roxy Jacenko and career chameleon Tim ‘Rosso’ Ross to peel back the curtain on what it really takes to grab the attention of the press and how this time has impacted them personally.”

The event, which will run from 9am to 6pm, is in partnership with Nine, Ten, Seven, Nova, Daily Mail Australia, Australian Radio Network, Ooh Media (including Junkee), QMS, News Corp, Foxtel Media, and Verizon.
