Carat’s head of strategy moves to Mamamia

Mamamia has appointed a new head of strategy in Carat Australia’s chief strategist Danni Wright.

Wright joins the media company after 15 years at the dentsu agency, where she worked in various strategic roles in the UK and Australia. She was promoted to Australia’s head of strategy in early 2019.

In the new role, she will lead Mamamia’s strategic product and its content marketing agency Squad. Wright will also be part of the sales leadership team, working closely with content leadership and audience development teams to identify and create new content opportunities.

“I can’t wait to get my teeth stuck into the new role, and to join a team with palpable momentum and fire behind their uniquely positioned offering,” she said.

Natalie Harvey, chief revenue officer at the media company, said: “Mamamia has incredibly deep insight into 7 million women we reach every month and our ability to leverage these insights to help brands connect in an authentic and effective way is unrivalled.

“We are absolutely pumped to have Danni joining our team. Her experience, relationships and passion for media will be a huge asset to our team and elevate our already exceptionally strong product.”

Wright was among a number of recent departures at dentsu’s Carat, alongside head of growth Scott McCaffery and group strategy and planning director Paul Baker.

Dentsu’s chief client officer, Fiona Johnston, told Mumbrella: “Danni, PB and Scott are some of our favourite people and have all been a huge part of Carat, and dentsu, some up to 14 years! Of course, we are sad to see them go but they leave a great legacy of strategic smarts and business nous. We know they are all moving on to good places and I’m sure they will do well.”

The trio exit comes shortly after a huge Dentsu ANZ restructure, which also saw dentsu Media boss Danny Bass and Merkle boss Steve Yurisich depart.

Wright will start the new role on June 24.
