Cardinal Pell verdict splashed across major Australian newspapers

Note to the mob:
My brothers and I had a catholic upbringing in NZ. When our father died, Father McKenna of St Mary’s Parish, Rotorua offered to step in as disciplinarian “if the boys get too much for you.”
Today. alarm bells would go off if a kid was sent. alone, to see a priest to be punished. It turned out brilliantly. Daniel McKenna was a wise and gentle man who rewarded the trust our struggling family had in him.
Go get the Catholic hierarchy — but please keep trusting the Father Mckennas.

The media industry needs to call out Andrew Bolt for defending Pell. Pell has been found guilty by a jury. These people have sat through a long trial and have access to the full investigation and witness statements.
The guilty verdict should not be disputed by a media commentator. He ‘doesn’t accept’ the verdict. This is the Australian law…does Bolt think he is above that?

Special shout-out to Peter Mahon and the Royce Communications PR team who have been working with Pell and the church the entire time…

And of course by ‘call out’, you really mean ‘silence’. How dare Andrew Bolt question the verdict? What is this mean to be, a liberal democracy or something?!

Rushy the point is. The abuse was institutional. Your mate who was no doubt lovely also undoubtedly turned a blind eye.
We are all complex creatures with good and bad in all of us. Including Pell.
But the priesthood was undoubtedly fucked up.

I didn’t see ‘silence’ anywhere in there. Calling someone out is the opposite of silence.

So it’s ok to defend convicted paedophiles without consequence? Johnny, you are part of the problem.

“the mob” ???
who are the mob?
the victims?
those who have worked to protect the victims?
those who oppose child abuse?
those who put this animal behind bars?
be nice if you could clarify your negative labelling.
and let’s try to avoid drawing general conclusions from personal anecdotes. if not, I may be tempted to blame the entire church for Father Mitchelmore in the confession box asking me to describe my masturbation habits.
I saw a recent stand up comedian who said something I found interesting. If you are a catholic priest and did not abuse any children, you are still just as guilty as you are part of an organisation that did and you stayed in that organisation despite what you knew.
That’s your Father McKenna.

You mean the long trial that the jury decided after three days of hearing? After the first jurors couldn’t come to a conclusion and was dissolved?
Wonder what media will have to say if, potentially, Pell is successful in his appeal and has his conviction overturned.
Let’s see what the public & media has to say about the legal process if this does happen.

Peter and the Royce team should be ashamed. All those years spin doctoring how to deny any knowledge or take responsibility when Pell knew what was going on – let alone the news this week!
Peter was often a spokesperson for Pell and the church; being paid in money that should have gone to the many, many victims.
Totally shameful
