CareerOne CEO Karen Lawson steps down after business transition

Screen Shot 2015-03-18 at 1.19.52 PMCareerOne chief executive Karen Lawson has stepped down after two years in the role with COO Ben Foote taking over at the job search firm.

Lawson said the “timing was right to move on” after overseeing the transition from a “traditional job board into a leading technology and digital business”.

“It’s been an amazing journey to transition a business into a leading technology and media business,” she said. “The improved financial performance of the business and its successful strategic direction has created a natural exit point for me in my role as CEO.”

CareerOne chairman Matthew Barnett said the firm has become a “strong, agile and competitive online business” under Lawson’s leadership.

Her successor Ben Foote has been a member of the leadership team for more than three years, with Barnett highlighting his “deep knowledge” of CareerOne and the wider recruitment market.

“This means we can offer continuity in our commitments to customers while we further innovate to grow the business,” he Barnett.

Foote added: “The recruitment market is rapidly evolving and we have a strong strategy in place to keep innovating to meet the changing needs of the market.”
