CarExpert replaces Drive as ACM’s automotive partner

Automotive online marketplace and publisher, CarExpert has agreed a deal with Australian Community Media (ACM), to become its automotive content and branding partner, replacing Nine-owned Drive, Mumbrella can reveal.

The media company, owned by Anthony Catalano and his business partner, Alex Waislitz houses more than 100 digital and print assets.

CarExpert swoops on Drive’s ACM deal

CarExpert was founded in 2020 by Alborz Fallah, Paul Marie and Anthony Crawford, the original team behind CarAdvice, the business that was acquired by Nine in 2018. Nine is also the owner of Drive, with the CarAdvice then being retired after its acquisition.

This comes after CarExpert closened its ties with Seven West Media, receiving investment from the media company, as well as similarly signing a data and content deal.

Last month, former chief marketing officer at Audi Australia, Nikki Warburton also joined CarExpert’s board, became a non-executive director and took a stake in the company. Warburton’s partner, James Warburton, is also CEO of Seven West Media.

CarExpert told Mumbrella the partnership with ACM will see its content made available to 4.9 million regional and rural Australians.

CEO of CarExpert, Damon Rielly said: “At CarExpert, we’re delighted to announce this partnership with Australia’s largest independently owned media business, ACM.  As independents ourselves, it is a union that is aligned on common values and one which we are both confident will enhance reach, consumption and importantly, trust, for both parties.”

“We believe the partnership further cements CarExpert as the destination for everything Australians need to know about new cars, adding to our record-breaking YouTube channel, our existing alliance with Seven West Media and the millions who visit CarExpert.com.au monthly.

“Not only does this increase CarExpert’s value offering for consumers, it enables our content to help more people make confident decisions when buying their next new car.”

“We are excited to partner with CarExpert and combine our regional news expertise with their digital and automotive knowledge,” said managing director of ACM, Tony Kendall.

“Together, we will publish compelling content to inform, engage and inspire millions of readers each month,” said Kendall.

Drive was approached for comment.
