Carlton Draught ‘Beer chase’ ad goes viral
Carlton Draught’s Hollywood car chase parody ad has gone viral.
The ad, which hasn’t run on TV yet, has been viewed almost 1.5m times since being uploaded to YouTube six days ago.
The ad was sent to the media, the Carlton Draught and the AFL databases as well as all staff of Carlton United Brewers. It also ran on the Carlton Draught Facebook and Twitter pages, and has been picked up by the American press.
The Huffington Post and the LA Times both wrote about it, the LA times asking, is this the best beer ad ever?
The ad, created by Clemenger BBDO Melbourne, breaks on TV during the footy finals on Friday night.

Probably helps that it went to number one on Reddit.

In a league of it’s own when you look at the work around at the moment.

gday not bad but as a writer i think i could write and create an add with a little more oomph.. it gets the message out but in australia we do things bigger and louder and better than everyone else so if yu want us to buy your beer give us something to remember

thought the add was a bit flat if its for the american market needs a bit of get up an go, there are so many beer adds out there if you want to be the best you have to do the best.. if its for australian market go to any building site at beer o’clock same with the wharfies-these people if they drink your beer thats where you should be at. its where i would be, and how do i know? ive been there.. your add is o.k. but i want something that reaches out and grabs me and stays with me long after the add is no longer around i thank you for your time

It is a sad and symptomatic reflection of the lack of talent that wallows in the shadows of a once great industry. A rip off of a 70’s movie, a mockery of law and order.
Any number of laws broken in its pathetic story. What next: bring a beer to Jones Town. The right Draught to drink at the Andes Plane crash. No wonder society is in such a state, and before all you apologist ‘s for so call creative freedom start wringing your hands, is this the sort of message we want to send to an already dis functional Community, if you answer yes then you are part of the problem.

Great great work. Been a while since I laughed out loud at an ad.

Good to see and Aussie ad that isn’t a steaming pile of shit, kind of reminds me of the chace scene in ‘Wet Hot American Summer’ – https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ctRBsLAGS40&feature=youtube_gdata_player
Great Job!

Nice ad.
Any idea Tim on where the views are taking place?
They have this function hidden or locked on youtube.
Hahn Superdry was guilty of having millions of views, problem being they were viewed everywhere but in Australia. Hopefully CUB are open and transparent enough to share this.

Russell farmer, it’s a bit of a worry if you are genuinely a writer, considering you refer to an advertisement as an “add” and write with no punctuation, poor grammar and no caps.
Maybe you wrote some of the other beer ads we’ve all forgotten about?

I love the humour this advertisment has and I am proud to say I am doing this for an assignment at school.
