Carlton Draught promo gets 100,000 entries

Carlton Draught, which ran a promotion that offered entrants the chance to win a trip to London, $100,000 and a meat tray in March, received 100,000 entries to the competition. The winner was Jodie Hill from Victoria.

The announcement:

Last night, Australia’s favourite draught beer, Carlton Draught, gave 16 lucky Aussies the chance to win $100,000 (and a meat tray featuring premium Wagyu Beef) as they took part in the biggest ever meat wheel on the EDF Energy London Eye.

The winner Jodie Hill, from Colac Victoria, was the lucky finalist in the winning capsule as the wheel slowed down.

The finale of Carlton Draught’s Massive Meat Wheel promotion played out on Channel Nine’s AFL Footy Show last night.

Jodie, one of the 16 finalists who travelled to London as guest of Carlton Draught, went for a spin on the world’s tallest cantilevered observation wheel to compete for the grand prize.

Commenting on her win Jodie said: “It’s not often an Aussie goes to London and comes back with more money in their pocket. It was pretty exciting towering over London’s skyline and waiting as the wheel slowly spun. When they told me I was the winner my partner and I were literally jumping with joy in the capsule.”

The 39 year-old was an instant winner in the Massive Meat Wheel promotion after she entered by purchasing a specially marked carton of Carlton Draught from Woolworths Liquor in Colac.

Vincent Ruiu, Carlton Group Marketing Manager said: “We’re really pleased with the success of the Massive Meat Wheel promotion. We received around 100,000 entries during the promotional period which is a great result for a promotion that was leveraged on-pack, through PR and a media partnership.  The content integration with Channel Nine’s AFL Footy Show, which saw Carlton Draught bring ‘the wheel’ back to the show, played an integral role in driving entries.  We haven’t completed all the post analysis yet but it appears to have been one of our most successful promotions yet in terms of entries.”
