Shell V-Power adds fuel to the 2019 carsales Car of the Year Award

carsales has today announced Shell V-Power as its first-ever presenting sponsor for the 2019 carsales Car of the Year – Australia’s number one consumer-focused new car award.

Shell V-Power’s sponsorship of the award follows a collaboration between carsales and Shell licensee, Viva Energy Australia, earlier in 2019. Under the arrangement, carsales’ members will be able to access a range of offers, including fuel discounts at Shell service stations.

Megan Foster, Viva Energy Executive General Manager Consumer said, “We’re thrilled to announce our support of carsales’ Car of the Year Award.

“The award recognises excellence and advances in technology. We see those values strongly aligned with Shell V-Power, where the fuel has been designed with the latest technology to defend car engines against gunk and corrosion, and maximise efficiency and performance across the Shell V-Power 98 and Shell V-Power Diesel fuel range.”

carsales Car of the Year is awarded annually and celebrates just one winner from every new model passenger car (including SUVs) released in Australia. The consumer-focused award has strict requirements related to vehicle safety and eligibility is price-capped.

“Shell V-Power is at the very top of the tree when it comes to fuel technology and is one of the country’s most recognised auto-related fuel brands. We’re very pleased to have Shell V-Power and Viva Energy on board for the 2019 carsales Car of the Year,” carsales Director of Content and Editor in Chief, Mike Sinclair stated.

To determine the 2019 carsales Car of the Year, a multi-stage judging process will whittle the contenders down to a shortlist of 10 finalists, with one overall winner. In 2018, the winner was the Volvo XC40.

Unlike other awards, carsales Car of the Year utilises data generated by car value specialist RedBook.com.au, expert evaluation and consumer sentiment to recognise Australia’s best cars from hundreds of vehicles available in the local marketplace – based on cost to purchase, own and run.

With both 98RON Premium Unleaded Petrol and Diesel products available in the Shell V-Power range, the majority of the field for the 2019 carsales Car of the Year will be able to be fuelled and engine protected by a Shell V-Power product.
