Carsales CMO Kellie Cordner departs

Chief marketing officer of ASX-listed Carsales, Kellie Cordner, has left the company after almost seven years.

Cordner joined Carsales in 2015 as group marketing director, one year later stepping into the CMO role after current Xero marketing director, and former Carsales CMO, Vladka Kazda moved into the chief customer officer role.

Cordner said: “Carsales is a fantastic business. We’ve achieved a substantial amount and grown the business in every measure. I’ve thoroughly enjoyed working at Carsales but the time is right to seek new challenges.”

The company said that it is currently in the process of recruiting for the position, with the full details of the appointment still to be finalised.

The brand said: “Carsales has a complex marketing mix that demands an innovative, skilled and experienced professional. The calibre of the applicants to date has been encouraging.”

Carsales have had a strong year in the Australian market. In second half FY 2021 its media revenue grew to $24.1 million, representing an increase of 13% on the corresponding period in 2020. The share price at the start of the year sat at $19.38, and now currently sits at $26.38.

It is also building a dedicated self-serve platform to enable advertisers to self-serve purchasing of Carsales inventory, “drastically reducing the friction associated with manual insertion orders, broadening our customer base and increasing volume”.

It has also had more than 100 Select cars advertised since launch from a test group of dealers, and is on-boarding new dealers and acquainting them with new software processes as well as minimum requirements for car eligibility (e.g., price, odometer, imperfection photos etc).
