Carsales launches electric car hub on World EV Day

To mark World EV Day, Carsales has today launched an electric car hub on its website.

Carsales said the electric car hub includes new electric cars for sale, electric vehicle advice, buying guides, electric and plug-in hybrid vehicles, as well as independent reviews of batteries.

In June 2021, Carsales released an insights report into the uptake of electric vehicles (EV) in the Australian market, finding that Australians are showing increased interest in electric vehicles.

In addition to launching the hub, the company also revealed the winner of its inaugural Best EV Award, the Tesla Model 3. Focusing on the affordable end of the EV spectrum, the award mega-test put eight electric car contenders head to head to determine the overall winner.

Carsales Australia managing director, Ajay Bhatia, commented: “Carsales is Australia’s ‘Everything you Auto know’ destination, and that goes for electric cars as well. Australian consumers are increasingly curious about electric vehicles and what role they can play in their lives. We believe we have a responsibility to give consumers the information they need to understand electric vehicles and their relative benefits and potential challenges.

“Many of the world’s key car brands have committed to going all-electric, and soon. Carsales wants to be an active partner with manufacturers, car dealers, charging networks and consumers as this transformation toward electric vehicles takes place,” Bhatia said.

According to Carsales, consumers are looking to its website for EV-specific content. Carsales said its role will be to educate and offer advice to improve consumers’ understanding around EV adoption.

“There’s significant momentum in the electric car space. Our recent study, Moving EV Forward, cements an uptake in Aussies’ interest in EVs and highlights consumer consideration, adoption of EVs and a gap in the market for affordable body types,” Bhatia continued.

In May 2021, IAB Australia said that Carsales joined its board, with commercial director of media (strategy, trading, ad operations), Davor Vilusic, to represent the company.

In April 2021, Nicholas Bailly was promoted by Carsales to national sales director for auto OEM (original equipment manager) and media, effective immediately.
