Catalyst returns with 0.57m for ABC, Loser goes well for Ten

The thirteenth season of Catalyst kicked off last night on ABC, but the science show that informed us that one in a 100 people are psychopaths drew a disappointing 569,000 and failed to make the top 15.

The Straits has stabilised around the 400,000 mark for ABC1, up slightly from last week. But the public broadcaster took less than 10% share in the Thursday ratings, according to OzTam’s preliminary overnight metro figures.

Seven won the night comfortably, with a quarter of Australia’s TV viewers tuning in last night.

Seven’s My Kitchen Rules surprised no one by winning the night, pulling in 1.646m viewers in the 7.30pm time slot. It was the only non-news show to eclipse the million mark.

The challenge episode of The Big Loser was next most watched non-news show on a rival channel, rating well with 861,000 for Ten.

The first day of the 2012 Energy Australia Swimming Championships, which saw an ad break for Energy Australia earlier this week, pulled in 507,000 for Ten.

At breakfast time, 382,000 woke up to watch Sunrise on Seven, again beating Today on Nine. Ten’s Breakfast pulled in just 40,000 viewers.
