June 1, 2011 –

Following a strong year of growth, leading online media publisher CBS Interactive Australia, home to category-defining brands BNET Australia, CNET Australia, GameSpot AU, TV.com and ZDNet Australia, is pleased to announce the promotion of commercial directors Jo Gaines and Barry McGhee to the new roles of joint General Managers for Consumer and Business respectively.

Jo and Barry have both held the positions of Commercial Director for the company’s consumer and business divisions respectively since joining CBS Interactive in early 2010 and have used their 30+ years of combined experience in media and sales to drive CBS Interactive to achieve record revenue goals in 2010. Jo and Barry’s promotion to these new roles follows APAC VP and Managing Director Wendy Hogan’s move to Singapore to lead CBS Interactive’s regional business, strengthening the company’s local leadership in the CBS Interactive Sydney office.

“Since joining our business in 2010, Jo and Barry have jointly played an important role in helping us meet and grow our revenue targets and business,” says Wendy Hogan. “I am convinced their dynamic thinking, skills and experience will help the business achieve its ambitious revenue targets for 2011, taking CBS Interactive Australia and its premium brands to even greater heights”.

As General Manager for Consumer, Jo Gaines will continue her responsibility for guiding and directing sales, marketing and commercial partnerships, in addition to the management of the editorial and product teams across CBS Interactive Australia’s consumer brands (CNET Australia, GameSpot AU and TV.com). The new role will also give Jo the added responsibility of leading CBS Interactive Australia’s corporate brand activities, in particular acting as a company ambassador within the online publishing industry. This will include speaking at events and in general on the broader digital media industry. Prior to joining CBS Interactive Australia, Jo held positions at SheSpot as NSW Sales Director, Yahoo!7, Sensis MediaSmart and BMC Media.

Moving into the role of General Manager for Business, Barry McGhee will continue to guide commercial partnerships and drive a dedicated sales team across CBS Interactive’s business brands including BNET Australia, ZDNet Australia and CNET Direct. Like Jo, Barry will also play an active role in the management of the editorial and product teams for CBS Interactive Australia’s business site brands ZDNet Australia, TechRepublic and BNET Australia. Barry came to CBS Interactive Australia in 2010 in the position of Commercial Director from Fairfax Business Media as Group Sales Manager, and has previously worked in various sales management roles with IDG and News Limited.
