Celebrated copywriter Craig ‘Moose’ Moore has died, aged 56

Celebrated copywriter Craig ‘Moose’ Moore has died, aged 56.

Moore enjoyed a storied career as a senior copywriter at Saatchi & Saatchi, Clemenger, and The Campaign Palace, working with major clients such as Toyota, McDonalds, Commonwealth Bank, Hasbro, and British Airways. He also worked on strategy and product development with Green’s Food, and was a member of the board of Commercial Radio Australia.

Moore was diagnosed with early onset dementia in 2015, at age 46, and retired from copywriting that same year. He was later diagnosed with Alzheimer’s.

His wife Louise Bryant, is the managing editor of The Australian’s prestige titles. She paid tribute to her late husband on Linkedin this morning, writing:

Big. Bold. Fearless. Iconic. One of a kind and larger than life itself.

Moose died last night surrounded by enormous love and a mountain of treasured memories. Diagnosed with Alzheimer’s, of which there is no cure, he was only 56 years old.

It’s been a privilege to be on this journey with you, Moose. Thank you for giving me the best years. Your humour, generous love and big heart gave me a lifetime of happiness. In typical fashion, you were defiant and strong, and mischievous, right to the end, until you were carried up into the clouds above.

I will miss you for eternity, but I’ll know where to find you: in the sunsets you loved, the endless oceans you swam, and the big blue sky where you’d dream big for another World Series win for your beloved Chicago Cubs.

You are forever loved, and your bright shining light will never fade.

May you rest peacefully now.

Moore was the topic of two lengthy features in The Australian, as well as a special on Nine’s A Current Affair. Bryant also wrote about Moore in a Vogue feature this February, and in news.com.au earlier this week.

His story was also the basis of a national dementia-awareness campaign, Think Again, which was launched by News Corp.

Moore is survived by Bryant and his daughter Phoebe.
