Celebrities support law reforms for lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender community

The National Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender Health Alliance is launching a campaign to celebrate and bring awareness to the 85 Federal same-sex law reforms.

The Wear It With Pride campaign, created by M&C Saatchi/Mark, will launch today with the support of Australian celebrities, politicians and campaigners.

As part of the campaign, singer Natalie Bassingthwaighte has donated a song and budget to shoot the ‘Love Like This’ video clip featuring herself and 60 members of the LGBT community.

Specially made t-shirts supporting the campaign have been created and will be worn by celebrities including Bassingthwaighte, Ruby Rose, Kylie Gillies (The Morning Show), Richard Reid (Today Show); Prof. Kerryn Phelps (former head of the Australian Medical Association) and drag act, Courtney Act for the campaign launch at the Sydney Opera House Forecourt today.

Other celebrities involved in the campaign include The Veronicas, Kerrie Anne Kennerly, Helpmann Award winner iOTA and Adam Sutton, the inspiration for Heath Ledger’s character in Brokeback Mountain.

Gavin McLeod, creative director of Mark, said: “We inspired some of the world’s best artists to turn the 85 dry law reforms into wearable art. We’re launching with fewer than 45 artists and celebrities because we want to engage artists and activists within the community to get involved.

“We’re expecting the T-shirts and awareness of the 85 reforms to have a big impact around the country, with Australians spreading the knowledge through wearing, giving, promoting and collecting the wearable art.”

Other components of the campaign will include cinema, outdoor, press, outdoor and online.
