Celebrity Apprentice debuts with 866,000 metro viewers

The new season of Nine’s Celebrity Apprentice debuted on Sunday night, with an average of 812,000 metro viewers watching the first boardroom of the season.

The full launch episode was viewed by 682,000 metro viewers, as Aussies were introduced to the new boss, Lord Sugar, and a host of celebrities competing to win money for their chosen charities.

The Boardroom also won the 16-39 and 18-49 advertising demos, with Nine News Sunday taking out 25-54.

The show’s premiere also helped Nine to a network share win on Sunday night, with a 29.3% share ahead of Seven’s 28.0%, Ten on 19.2% and ABC on 14.3%.

Nine also had a primary channel share win, taking 21.9%.

Nine News Sunday was the most-watched metro program of the night overall, with 1.009 million viewers.

That was ahead of Seven News – Sun with 991,000 metro viewers, but was the #1 show nationally with 1.548 million ahead of Nine’s 1.346 million viewers.

The 7News Spotlight: Martin Bryant’s Dark Secrets brought in 702,000 metro viewers.

Among entertainment programs, the next best after Celebrity Apprentice was MasterChef, which had 551,000 metro viewers for Ten. ABC’s Spicks and Specks aired to 475,000 metro viewers.

Seven’s AFL: Sunday Afternoon Football, had 350,000 metro viewers, beating Nine’s Sunday Afternoon NRL Live with 292,000 metro viewers.

Seven celebrated another weekly win over the weekend, taking out the week ending Saturday, 22 May with a 21.9% network share. That placed it ahead of Nine with 27.8%, Ten with 18.8% and the ABC.

Seven and Nine tied for primary channel share across the week, each taking a 19.7%. The #1 multi-channel for last week was 7mate with 4.0%.
