CEO of CarAdvice.com.au dies unexpectedly – memorial service tomorrow

justin whelanA memorial service will be held tomorrow to celebrate the life of Justin Whelan, who had only recently been appointed CEO of CarAdvice.com.au.

Former colleague and friend Andrew Beecher told Mumbrella that the death came “in unexpected circumstances while travelling overseas”. He was 39.

Beecher has stepped in as interim CEO of Car Advice. He said: “Justin’s life was taken away far, far too soon. He was talented, driven and a successful in all his roles and I will sorely miss his passion, friendship and approach to life.”

CarAdvice Board member and previous CEO David Holmes, now boss of the Australian Interactive Media Industry Association, said: “Justin’s death is a tragic loss for all of us who considered him a close friend as well as a loss for CarAdvice, and the digital community as a whole.”

CarAdvice founder Alborz Fallah said: “Justin was a founding member of the CarAdvice family and his tireless efforts were intrinsically linked to the company’s success.”

Justin Whelan’s career in online also spanned across Hitwise, Tempest Media and Carsales.

The Memorial Service will be held at the North Bondi RSL this Saturday 2nd November, from 10am. All friends, peers, and colleagues past and present are welcome.
