Channelzero and Sony partner up for action sports and music festival

Sydney based communications and advertising company Channelzero, owner of the Bathurst-based action sports and music festival Newtons Nation, has signed a joint venture with Sony Music Entertainment.

The announcement:

February 20 2012 – Channelzero, a Sydney based brand communications and advertising agency, owners of the action sports and music festival Newtons Nation today signed a joint venture agreement with Sony Music Entertainment.  Together they plan to build and promote this festival into the best platform for youth to engage in action sports across the Asia Pacific region.

Channelzero acquired the Newton’s Nation event in 2009, and it has grown to become Australia’s largest action sports and music festival. Based in Bathurst on the famous Mount Panorama, Newtons is a three day adrenalin packed spectacular, incorporating action gravity sports, world class music, camping and entertainment.

Together Channelzero and Sony Music will ensure that the festival builds on the totally unique experience that Newtons Nation provides with iconic locations and jaw dropping action. Prime minister of Newtons Nation Ben Perry says “We are very excited to have Denis and the Sony Music team join us in Newtons Nation. It’s a dream building a festival that engages the public so intensely across so many sports during the day and music at night. Working with great brands that want to add real value to our revellers is key and Sony music is a prime example of this.”

This year’s Newton’s Nation takes place on 27th – 29th April 2012 and promises to be the best yet, with over 600 competitors from around the world competing in downhill skate, luge, BMX freestyle, parkour, mountain bike, street skate and scooter for the biggest prize money in Australia.

“This is an exciting festival and we are delighted to join Channelzero in building and developing Newton’s Nation in Australia and in other markets.  The mixture of the gravity sports events and music in such an iconic location is truly unique and we very much look forward to developing this exciting festival with Ben, Franky and all the team at Channelzero.” Denis Handlin, chairman & CEO Sony Music Aus & NZ
