The Chaser’s War On Everything made a muted return to the ABC last night, with many viewers opting for State of Origin rugby on Nine instead.
The show – which was taken off the air for two episodes following the infamous dying kids sketch – scored an average of just under 1.2m viewers, according to preliminary ratings data from OzTam. This was about the same as last time the show aired – which was also a State of Origin night.
But the game didn’t dent the near-1.9m audience of Ten’s MasterChef which was still on air when the game kicked off. It was the second largest weekday audience of the series.
Seven ran a split schedule last night, with Thank God You’re Here not airing in Sydney and Brisbane. Seven had a poor night, with a share of 22.9% across the network. Nine was on 32.1% (rising to a rugby-driven 37.5% in Sydney) and Ten a respectable 25.6%. The ABC was on 15.7% and SBS 3.7%.
