Chris Bath quits ABC Radio

Chris Bath has decided to end her run on ABC Radio Sydney where she was the Evenings presenter, confirming she would not be returning to the role in 2020.

Bath said it was a ‘difficult decision’ but one she was ultimately making for her family.

Bath will not return to ABC Radio in 2020

“It was a very difficult one to make, but I need to find a job with hours more conducive to having my family recognise me,” said Bath.

She said she ‘had a ball hosting Evenings and working with my little team and the listeners who make the show truly hum’.

Bath still holds her role as a national news anchor on Ten. She moved to the station in 2018, following almost two decades with Seven. In 2014 she ‘stepped back’ from a Seven News position to focus on her job on Sunday Night. She was replaced by Melissa Doyle over a year later. Sunday Night was recently cancelled by Seven.

ABC Radio Sydney Manager, Melanie Withnall, said the station was disappointed to lose such an experienced and talented broadcaster.

“Chris has been hosting Evenings for three years and in that time has grown her audience across NSW and Canberra,” she said.

“It was our wish that Chris continue in Evenings, but we respect her decision. There will always be a door open for her to return.”

ABC will announce its full Local and Regional Radio presenter line-ups next week. Earlier today, it was announced ABC Radio Melbourne duo Sami Shah and Jacinta Parsons had not had their contracts renewed for the Breakfast slot, with Sammy J named as replacement.
