Chris O’Keefe leaves UM Melbourne in latest senior departure from IPG Mediabrands
Chris O’Keefe has departed UM Melbourne after just over 12 months as the local managing director, Mumbrella can reveal.
O’Keefe’s departure is just the latest management shakeup within IPG Mediabrands and comes at the same time as the managing director’s position at sister agency Initiative is also vacant.
On Friday, Mumbrella reported that Stephen Fisher the managing director of Initiative had left the agency, for personal reasons, along with with chief strategy officer David Fish who is moving to GroupM.
The departures come just weeks after the sudden departure of Initiative CEO Lee Leggett in mid July.
He is a former managing director of Initiative Perth and Initiative Sydney who was promoted to the Melbourne role in July of last year.
UM Melbourne this year lost its biggest client with Coles Supermarkets and Target moving its media buying to OMD.
Hi Nic,
It seems a bit harsh to be having a go at IPG when every single media group is going through the same senior management churn epidemic. Would love to see one of your in depth pieces on why this is happening…
Regards,
Jack

Another huge loss (following on from Lee).
Mediabrands is in turmoil – which is a shame considering where there were only a couple of years ago under Tajer.
I think they may have over estimated Bass. Perhaps that is why Terry is going to be located in Sydney

Chris and Stephen will do well wherever they go, I am sure they will be pleased to leave such a to toxic workplace
