Chrissie Swan quits The Circle for Mix breakfast

chrissie_swanbrig_and_lehmoLogie winner Chrissie Swan has quit Ten’s The Circle for a breakfast radio gig with ARN’s Mix 101.1 in Melbourne.

The vacancy has been created by presenters Brig & Lehmo shifting sideways to ARN’s Gold 104.3, where the long standing Grubby & Dee Dee show was axed earlier this month.

The appointment of Swan is a rapid transition after she was appointed as co-host of Mix’s 3pm national show The Pick Up in August.

According to the ARN announcement: “There are no format changes planned, Brig and Lehmo will stay true to Gold 104.3’s on-air promise of ‘good times and great classic hits’.”

ARN’s national content director Duncan Campbell said: “These are obviously major changes for ARN. I’ve made no secret of the fact that we are determined to be more competitive in Melbourne next year and we need breakfast to work on both stations for that to happen. Breakfast is the most important day-part for any radio station, and we have decided to launch with our strongest breakfast proposition yet. It’s an exciting time for ARN as we move into 2012; we believe the new appointments will offer a fresh level of creativity and energy to breakfast as we face a very challenging year ahead.”

Brig and Lehmo – Brigitte Duclos and Anthony ‘Lehmo’ Lehmann – will commence on air with Gold 104.3 from Monday January 16.

Swan will start on Monday February 6.

A spokesman for Ten told Mumbrella: “After two years with The Circle, Ten and Chrissie Swan have decided to part ways. The network wishes Chrissie all the best. Yumi and Gorgi will be returning to The Circle in 2012 and we look forward to welcoming a new friend to the couch.”

Swan’s hiring is part of two-way traffic between the two media companies. Andrew Rchford has left Sydney’s Mix 106.5 to become co-host of Ten’s new Breakfast offering. He will be replaced by Tim Ross.
