ARN’s Mix Network has signed The Circle’s Chrissie Swan and Yumi Stynes to host a new national show called 3pm Pick-Up, aimed at women in the 25 to 44 age demographic.
Kmart has signed on as major sponsor of the show which will be broadcast for an hour on weekdays in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Adelaide and Canberra.
“Women are constantly being pulled from pillar to post by the day’s demands. Our new show focuses on women – it’s not about dishing out parenting tips and being all mumsy, we understand that these women are more than just mums. It’s something just for them – it’s pure fun, good girl banter and songs you can sing along to,” Swan said.
The new show will see the introduction of Smart Shopper – a segment which sees listeners review a product each week.
ARN marketing executive Chris Phillips told Mumbrella: “Smart Shopper is a concept that’s designed to get real Australian women and mums talking about brands. We will be recruiting smart shoppers off the 3pm Pick-Up website who will review one product a week by blogging about it on the website. The production team will then put together a content piece from the blogs.”
He added: “Smart shopper is a commercial property, but we will show requisite light and shade in the segment based on the feedback of each week’s shoppers”
The show goes to air on Monday September 5.

Talk about a good move. Everyone loves Swannie. She will really appeal to women 25 and over.
Mind you those who want to hear music may switch off…………

A good idea with the right talent to front it. Likable, savvy, recognizable and not overexposed. It’s about time they finally started owning the mum-market outright instead of trying to be 2day.

Weird… I always got the impression that these two didn’t like each other, or that there was some only-just-repressed eye-rolling on Yumi’s behalf at everything Chrissie said. Maybe I read a bit too much into my daytime tv!

Whose watching this show and what world do they live in? If you do the Mummy thing you’re leaving home to pick up the kids at 3pm and if you’re not then you’re at work – aren’t you?

@Whose watching… That’s why this show is such a great idea – you’ll get to hear them while you pick up the kids or listen to the radio at work. This show makes perfect sense!

A bad move for Brisbane and Adelaide that has not been subject to idiotic programming that has decimated the once successful Sydney and Melbourne Mix/TT FM stations.
The parochial mums and grocery buyers in Brisbane that lust for the velvety tones of Paul ‘Campo’ Campion on 973 will not be happy that they lose an hour of time with him.

@Elevenses – that’s his/her online name, not a question. Maybe was in reference to another article they commented on, Mumbrella remembered the details. Hint: on left is name, right is their comment! Sheesh.
