Christmas with the Australian Women’s Weekly down on last year and beaten by The Force

Nine’s annual Christmas With The Australian Women’s Weekly pulled in 655,000 metro viewers at 8pm last night, however was out-rated by Seven’s The Force – Behind the the Line.

Christmas with the Australian Women’s Weekly was well down on last year’s audience when it saw 797,000 metro viewers tune in for the show at 6.30pm.

The Force grabbed 683,000 metro viewers in the 8pm timeslot and was the most-watched non-news program of the evening. It and Christmas With The Australian Women’s Weekly out-rated Ten’s The Biggest Loser Families which was watched by 648,000 from 7.30pm.

However The Biggest Loser was the most-watched show amongst 16-39 and 18-49 year old viewers, while Nine News was the most-watched show amongst 25-54 viewers, pulling in a metro audience of 1.044m.

Seven News won the evening, with 1.076m metro viewers tuning in. At 7pm Nine’s summer edition of 60 Minutes was watched by 903,000.

At 8.30pm, Seven’s Blindspot was watched by 574,000 and Nine’s The Mentalist, airing at 9pm, was watched by 362,000. Ten’s Limitless, airing at 8.30pm, grabbed an audience of 302,000.

Nine won the night with an audience share of 18.9 per cent, just ahead of Seven’s audience share of 17.9 per cent. The ABC claimed third place with a share of 12.4 per cent as Ten settled for a share of 10.5 per cent.

On the ABC, the finale of Doctor Who, airing from 7.40pm, was watched by 534,000, up on last week’s audience of 455,000. At 8.45pm, Inspector George Gently was watched by 494,000.

Earlier in the day, Ten’s broadcast of the Sydney 500 saw 407,000 metro viewers tune in for the actual race, while 261,000 tuned in for the shoot-out.

The V8s was also broadcast on Foxtel’s Fox Sports 5 and had an average audience of 140,000 viewers, but was just outrated by Supergirl on Fox8 which had 141,000 viewers.
