Former Triple J announcer and comedian Ciaran Lyons has launched a concert to raise money for Taldumande Youth Services following his experiences on SBS show Filthy, Rich and Homeless.

Acts including Ali Barter, Boo Seeka, Hein Cooper, Lime Cordiale, Mashd N Kutcher and Tyne-James Organ are already on the bill with more to be announced.

The announcement:

Lyons was a part of the third season of Filthy, Rich and Homeless on SBS

New Ambassador launching concert for Homeless Kids Taldumande Youth Services has a new Ambassador after featuring in the current season of acclaimed SBS TV series, Filthy, Rich and Homeless.

The shows third season saw Comedian and Radio Announcer Ciaran Lyons seeking shelter, warmth and basic amenities at a Taldumande Youth Services Crisis Refuge, after spending a few nights on the streets sleeping rough mid-winter.

The three-part TV series featured five high profile Australians who swapped their privileged lifestyles for 10 days of homelessness, a sad reality for around 120,000 Australians on any given night.

The 23-year-old Comedian was so affected by his time on the streets and the work being done by Taldumande Youth Services for homeless children and young people, that he signed up to be an Ambassador.

Taldumande provides accommodation and services for vulnerable and homeless children and young people aged 12 to 21. Taldumande Youth Services provides a pathway from homelessness and family breakdown, using supported accommodation and community programs, to independence and stability.

The organisation also assists young woman escape forced marriage or who are trying to escape family plans to force them into marriage.

Ciaran spent a great deal of time during his Covid-19 lockdown speaking to Australian bands and solo artists about participating in an online concert to raise awareness and funds for Taldumande Youth Services.

“When I finished filming the TV series, I knew I wanted to do more to help Sydney’s homeless
population, especially keeping young people from the unsafe environment of the streets at night”, he said.

Taldumande Concert for Homeless Kids on Sunday June 28 from 4pm to 7pm AEST will feature Ali Barter, Boo Seeka, Hein Cooper, Lime Cordiale, Mashd N Kutcher and Tyne-James Organ and more to be announced. Max, a young man who spent years rebuilding his life with the help of Taldumande Youth Services, after becoming homeless in his early teens, will also take part in the Taldumande Concert for Homeless Kids.

Ciaran organised the concert after filming the TV series which he says had a profound effect on him.

“I am honoured to become an Ambassador for Taldumande Youth Services and I hope the concert, will give Australians an insight into the challenges faced by homeless children and young people, while also raising much needed funds for Taldumande”, he said.

Taldumande Concert for Homeless Kids starts at 4pm on June 28 with artists logging in remotely from their home/studios for the digital concert, kindly presented by Big Top Luna Park Sydney and broadcast through Big Top Sydney’s Instagram account @bigtop_sydney.
