CJZ, Fremantle, Jungle and Roadshow receive screen grants from NSW Government
The NSW Government has announced a $1.7m package for the NSW screen sector, with state minister for the arts Don Harwin saying it’s committed to protecting the livelihood of the industry “during these unprecedented times”.
Australia’s largest privately-owned production company, CJZ – behind the likes of Gruen, Bondi Rescue and Shaun Micallef’s On The Sauce – will receive $84,000 to support staff and freelancers. Fremantle, billed by the Government as “one of Australia’s most successful creators, producers and distributors of scripted and unscripted content” is up for $100,000 to work on several projects. And Roadshow is also set to get $100,000 for three projects, one of which involves working with investigative journalist Kate McClymont to bring the story of notorious Sydney identity Ron Medich to the screen.
Jungle Entertainment nabbed slightly less – $99.578.14 – for nine projects.
