Clemenger BBDO’s Al Crawford departs after eight years
Clemenger BBDO Sydney’s executive planning director, Al Crawford, has announced his departure from the agency after eight years.
In his time with Clemenger BBDO the agency won Effies, including the Grand Prix and Effectiveness Campaign of the Year, AdNews NSW Agency of the Year, B&T Campaign of the Year and was recognised at Cannes, D&AD, Spikes, Webby’s and Award.
Crawford said he wanted to use his “strategic nous” to solve a different set of “fiendish problems” before his “aging brain turns to mush.”

What a talent. What a loss. Not just for Clemenger, but for the whole industry. Anyone who has ever worked with Al would recognise that he is the maestro of intellect, humour, and just plain old common sense. You’ve left your mark at Clemenger, and while they are no doubt sad to see you leave, your best is still no doubt in front of you. Good luck.
Al is a bloody legend…
From a client’s viewpoint, Al is awesome, so smart and brought along lots of humour with patience too (a rare quality) ….Al you will shine whatever you decide to do next and I hope I get to work with you again…JB
Wow. Paul Bradbury has pulled off the hire of the year for Hristos’ replacement.
I have only met Al the once but I still rave about him as a lovely and obscenely smart human that I always wished I got the chance to work with! Good luck for the next gig mate.
What a loss to the industry. As a client it was a pleasure to work with someone who ‘just got it’.
Best wishes for whatever the next chapter holds.
What an incredibly clever and nice guy, someone is about to be very lucky to have him
