Clemenger BBDO appoints new chief creative officer

In the latest move to transform the agency, Clemenger BBDO has appointed a new chief creative officer.

Adrián Flores will join the agency this month, after more than a decade of creative leadership roles internationally.

He returns to Australia after three years at New York-based brand consultancy Robot, an arm of the SpringHill Company, which was founded by LeBron James and his business partner Mav Carter.

Prior to that, he spent time at VaynerMedia New York, Publicis Groupe New York and London, and various other international agencies.

His appointment marks the next step in Clemenger BBDO’s transformation under CEO Dani Bassil’s leadership.

In the past 12 months, she has appointed Anita Zanesco as chief growth officer, and Georgie Winton and Anita Deutsch-Burley as managing partners, respectively based in Clemenger BBDO’s Sydney and Melbourne offices. She also hired former whiteGREY talent Simon Wassef as chief strategy and experience officer in September last year.

“The CCO appointment means we now have a leadership trio of Aussies – Simon, Adrián and myself – with deep experience across brand, digital and social, as well as global perspectives on the work and industry,” said Bassil.

The past 12 months has also seen the launch of Clemenger BBDO’s production arm, MADE THIS, led by former MediaMonks boss Vinne Schifferstein. The production company recently appointed a new head of creative technology in Schifferstein’s former MediaMonks colleague, Marie-Celine ‘MC’ Merret.

“We’re doing things differently, better, with more diversity, and challenging the status quo. That’s what these signings are about. We’re not just signaling an intention. We’re delivering on it,” Bassil continued.

“I have no doubt Adrián’s energy, talent, and modern way of building brands will have a huge impact on our work, clients, culture and agency. I’m ecstatic he’s coming home to join the Clems family.”

Of his appointment, Flores said: “Clems is iconic both at home and abroad for a reason. I’m extremely excited to be part of its next chapter alongside a truly world-class team that’s famous for making famous work.”

Flores will begin the new role on May 20, 2024.
