Clemenger BBDO Sydney raids Google for new role of head of creative technology

brendan bob forsterClemenger BBDO Sydney has appointed Google product specialist Brendan ‘Bob’ Forster in the newly created role of head of creative technology as it looks to ramp up its technical capabilities.

Joining in October, Forster is moving agency side after eight years with Google Australia, firstly in online advertising and most recently as a product specialist.

Andy Pontin, Clemenger BBDO Sydney CEO, said: “Bob has an intimate knowledge of digital platforms, unrivalled relationships and a gigantic creative mind. We’re delighted to be welcoming Bob to the agency side of things.

“We have been one of the most digitally awarded agencies in Australia over the last year, and we look forward to turbo-charging that success with Bob.”

The move comes as creative agencies increasingly look to capitalise on a trend by marketers towards product development, as traditional advertising dollars dry up. Several large Australian agencies already have creative technologists in place.

Commenting on his appointment Forster said: “Over the past few years I’ve been lucky enough to work with many agencies and their clients as they respond to the evolving complexity and fragmentation of their marketing and communications. Now is an exciting time to explore the opportunities that technology can bring to great creative concepts.

“Clemenger BBDO Sydney’s ambition, culture and focus on digital will give me the opportunity to learn from some of the best and I’m excited for what the future holds.”
