Clemenger BBDO Sydney wins the creative account for Blue Ribbon Ice Cream

Clemenger BBDO Sydney has won the creative account for Unilever ice cream brand Streets Blue Ribbon, following a competitive four-way pitch.

The agency has already been tasked with developing a brand-building campaign for Blue Ribbon which addresses its expanding product range into Protein Bar ice creams and its Crafted flavour range.

Clemenger BBDO Sydney must create a distinct brand platform which will effectively apply to each of the brand’s products.

Pete Bosilkovski, CEO Clemenger BBDO Sydney, said the brand is close to his heart.

“This one is close to my heart, as my mum used to work at Streets ice cream factory and I have fond memories of our fridge always being stocked with Blue Ribbon goodness.

“We’re proud to be working with a much-loved Australian iconic brand that we’ve enjoyed since childhood and look forward to working with the Unilever team to relaunch the Blue Ribbon brand with a fun new brand platform,” Bosilkovski said.

According to Clemenger BBDO Sydney, during the pitch process the team tapped into their shared nostalgia and love for the brand to develop the upcoming brand platform.

Melanie Chen, Unilever Australia marketing manager for ice cream, said the platform Clemenger BBDO Sydney presented set them apart.

“We saw some phenomenal work through this competitive pitch, but the platform Clemenger BBDO brought to us, along with their passion and enthusiasm for the brand, are what absolutely set them apart. The platform will remind people why they’ve always loved Blue Ribbon and showcase all the new products so they can enjoy the joy of ice cream in new ways,” Chen said.

Bosilkovski became CEO of Clemenger BBDO Sydney in August last year, following the departure of Nick Garrett from both the Sydney and Melbourne businesses.

In January, Clemenger BBDO Sydney won the creative account for INova Pharmaceuticals’ Demazin, and released its first work for new client Gumtree. Last month, the agency hired Brona Kilkelly as senior planner.
