Clemenger Melbourne announces Gayle While as deputy CEO, Simon Lamplough as MD

Clemenger BBDO Melbourne has announced Gayle While, currently head of CRM, will be stepping into a newly created role as the agency’s deputy chief executive officer, Mumbrella can reveal.

Simon Lamplough has also been promoted from managing director, Myer, to MD of the Melbourne office.

Lamplough replaces Paul McMillan who departed last month to launch The Monkeys Melbourne as CEO.

Earlier this year While noted CEO Nick Garrett had been “future-proofing” the agency which she joined in 2015 from Lavender, where she was the client services director for just over two years.

Lamplough started at Clemenger BBDO Melbourne in 2009 and has been managing director of various accounts over the eight years.

He will retain leadership of the Myer team as part of his expanded remit in the new MD role.

Garrett said earlier in the year the agency’s evolution will never be finished.

“There is no end game, change is constant,” he said.

“You have three levers, people, process and structure, we were clear we wanted a different structure to the organisation that in theory is intuitively innovative and able to do different types of work at different speeds with different inputs and different and different costs,” Garrett continued.

James McGrath, creative chairman also noted earlier this year: “There is a real reason to change gears and have a wake up call and I think that’s the sobering nature of the latter past pre-Nick and I guess the emerging new agency post Nick’s arrival.”

Speaking of the new promotions, Garrett said in a statement: “In Gayle and Simon we have two of the best and most progressive leaders in the industry and I am thrilled for them personally and professionally.

“Both roles will report into me, but they will work together and share the responsibility for driving our business strategy forward, cultural transformation and of course to help the whole agency ‘make the work better’.”

Lamplough added: “There is so much we do well, but so much we still need to learn and get better at.”

While said of her appointment she couldn’t be more excited to shape the future of Clemenger Melbourne.

“Together, Simon and I hope to build on the agency’s history of great ideas and to drive our continual transformation into a leading modern creative agency not only in the Australian market, but globally,” While added.
