Clems takes over GDP in major move in Brisbane market

Brisbane agency Gallery De Pasquale has been bought by Clemenger BBDO Brisbane in a deal which will see staff and business move across.

The merger will see the GDP name – itself a product of a previous merger betwen De Pasquale and Gallery –  disappear from the market.

According to an announcement from Clemenger BBDO: “Clemenger’s existing management team of Managing Director Kurt Viertel, Creative Director Jim McKeown and Finance Director Michael Nielsen will be strengthened by the addition of GDP’s Remy Brassac to the newly created role of Client Services Director.”

GDP’s joint creative heads Phil Nobay and Lars Vester will move across as senior copywriter and senior art director respectively.

Clemenger BBDO Brisbane’s existing clients include Tourism Queensland, Energex, Gold Coast Tourism, Construction Skills Qld, Mantra Group, RACQ Insurance, QR National, InTrust, Australia Post and Sentis.

The combined agency’s billings are in excess of $50 million.

Viertel said: “We have from today a new and even better agency. A truly integrated agency with the scale and desire to lead. It presents immediate benefits for our clients and staff alike.”

Clemenger Group executive chairman Robert Morgan added: “We are committed to being the best in Brisbane, which we consider to be one of the hottest growth markets in Australia. The opportunity to grow our scale and gain some great clients and strong people was too good to miss.”
