Clubhouse launches new features to elevate user experience

Social audio app Clubhouse has launched three new features designed to elevate user experience in the app’s latest update.

The announcement:

With updates coming straight from Clubhouse’s internal hackathon, the social audio experts are rolling out updates to its app, including Room Composer, a not safe for work (NSFW) toggle and easier access to room audience counts.

Room Composer

You know that feeling of slight panic that sets in when you open a room, you’re trying to entertain everyone piling in, and simultaneously setting up pinned links, setting your audio quality, and everything deciding else? Well, Clubhouse is trying to help alleviate that all with changes to Room Composer.

Today’s updates include a revamp of the way you can create and set up rooms. Now, when you select “Start a Room”, you’ll see more options – you’ll be able to decide if you want to start a private, social, or public room and can even start rooms directly from a Club.

You’ll then be able to set up your rooms before you kick things off! From room composer, you’ll still be able to turn Replays on or off (for public rooms only), but now you can also add pinned links, topics, denote a language, decide if hand raising is allowed, and set audio quality, all before you open the room.

NSFW

We always say Clubhouse is for everyone, but we know not everyone may want to see all the rooms that appear in their hallway. Because of this, Clubhouse has launched a NSFW toggle, so that you can tell us directly if you want to see NSFW in your hallway or not.

To hide NSFW rooms, simply head to Settings > Account > Hide NSFW Rooms and you’ll no longer see them in your hallway. Creators can also tell us if their rooms are NSFW, which will help them attract an audience that’s interested in these rooms and are hiding their rooms from the people who may not want to see them. Clubhouse will also be doing some magic on the backend to ensure that rooms are classified correctly.

Total Audience Count for All

And finally, total audience count has been a hit for Clubhouse creators (and a hit for everyone watching Replays as well), so it’s now available to everyone! This means that anyone who joins a room will be able to see the total number of people who have passed through that room. This is the first step of many and we’re going to be rolling out more analytics features to the community soon.
