The reason for the sudden split is not clear with today’s announcement saying neither party would make further comment for legal reasons, however the Australian arm of the company will remain operational.

“Due to binding contractual obligations, no further comment can be made by either party at this time,” stated a media release issued today.

It went on to state that the UK operation would be a “spin-off” of the Australian business, but would be rebranded for the UK to reflect the restructure adding The Loop Australia had cancelled its UK launch to “accommodate” Jamieson’s new venture there.

“The new management team appointed took the company in a new strategic direction and subsequently, it was mutually agreed to part ways to allow all parties to pursue objectives which are true to their own visions.”

It added that Jamieson had already pulled back form the Australian operation when she left the country for the UK 12 months ago.

The Loop was started by Jamieson and Matt Fayle after the pair left MTV in 2009 as a type of Linkedin platform for creative professionals.

It claimed in 2012 to have 170,000 unique visitors per month, of whom 70 per cent return to the site every day. However, these numbers are not audited.

“We built an incredible business in Australia and I’m thrilled to be taking that model to Europe”, said Jamieson.

“I’m incredibly proud of what we have achieved with The Loop in Australia and I’ll be working hard to repeat that success with my new venture. This was too good an opportunity pass up and while I’m sad about parting ways with my first baby, I’m very excited about what lies ahead.”

There was no comment form Jamieson’s fellow co-founder Fayle.
