Hildebrand: “Whatever else it may be, I promise it will not be boring”.

Hildebrand will also continue as a co-host of Ten’s morning TV show Studio 10.

Starting from Monday, the former columnist will be writing news analysis columns for the website.

Julian Delany, managing director of news.com.au, said in an announcement: “Joe is a fantastic journalist and we’re delighted to have someone of his talent and experience joining the team. Our brand positioning is to deliver ‘the news in colour’ and I look forward to Joe’s observations of life which I have no doubt will provide excellent commentary to the news events of the day for our audience.”

Hildebrand said: “Hopefully I’ll be able to bring some fresh, funny, provocative and insightful stories to the site. I have a few exciting ideas and if Kate doesn’t like them I’ll say they were someone else’s.

“The world is a big and crazy place. I love the way news.com.au is able to break it down for people and bring them to vital things they need to know as well as the stuff that’s just plain out there. In an age of information overload, bringing people stories that are fascinating, relevant and real is more important than ever.”
