Commercial director steps up as CarAdvice CEO resigns

The CEO of website CarAdvice.com.au David Holmes is to depart, the company has announced

Commercial directorJustin Whelan will step up as executive director in his place.

CarAdvice launched in 2006 and Holmes has been CEO since 2009. Previously he was CEO of search firm iProspect.

Holmes will remain an investor in the business and will continue to consult with the board, the announcement said.

He said he would be working on “yet-to-be-announced start-up in the peer-2-peer commerce space”.

CarAdvice Chairman Adrian Roche said in the announcement: “David has done an outstanding job of commercialising the business over the past four years with phenomenal year on year growth during his tenure.”

By far the biggest player in the automotive market is carsales.com.au.
