Converse invites Aussies to grab free boots
Footwear brand Converse has marked the launch of its 2012 Chuck Taylor All Star Boots Collection with a series of street stunts that invite people to take a free pair of boots from a red emergency box.
Under the campaign slogan ‘Let’s take this outside’, the campaign will see shoes placed in boxes in select locations in Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane, Perth and Adelaide.
The campaign will run for two weeks from today.
How does the box open? Do you break it open? Unlock it with a secret code? More detail would be great.
Also, which agency’s behind it? #sorryaboutthe20questionsandall
Now the advertising industry folk are going to scoop up new kicks.
What are the odds that the people finding these will be the correct shoe size?
How do i safety break the emergency glass? with my safety axe? HA!
So exactly the same idea the monkeys did for Intel a few months ago then?

Nice idea but, seeing as they’re teasering (what, that’s a word, who says it’s not?) the locations and publishing the installation and refill times, what are the odds on all in 20 teenager brawls at all locations? SECURITY!!!!
Maybe I’m over-reacting…
Who cleans up the glass!!!
If you look at the picture you will clearly see a handle to open the box.
There will be no broken glass – now move onto the next thing you wish to nit pick about.
the shoes in the box on ACDC lane last night were goth boots. the dude that actually got them didn’t seem to pleased!
the box had some QR code on the insider you had to use first
there was no riots
– end of report –
I demand a riot with plenty of broken glass!
What Neilo said ^^
according to 90% of people that comment on mumbrella there hasnt been a good advertising, PR, experiential campaign in the last 3 years. Considering 90% of the people comenting are the ones who are meant to come up with these ideas it doesnt hold high hopes for the industry.
Re Cons campaign. Cool idea, obviously has people talking and taking notice…… objective achieved!!
Rock/Paper/scissors should settle an arguments about who gets the shoes if 10 kids show up
i like it. nice one.
If I had an idea, a little similar to this, for a totally different product and I feel it would set fire to the advertising industry, so much so that it could scoop best ad of the year! Who should I discuss this will in terms of being able to benefit from my idea (because it should work and thus benefit the product, which is worth money…)
Or should people with idea’s just sit on their hands?
Interesting to know peoples suggestions here.
Neilo, that gave me a chuckle – especially when I thought you wrote ‘tasering’ :)). SECURITY!!
