Ten commissions crowd-sourced decision-making show The Audience

Network Ten has commissioned a new factual TV series to be produced by Granada Media Australia.

The new format The Audience, comes from UK production company The Garden Productions, and crowd sources decision-making for a person stuck at a cross roads in life.

Commissioned already for UK’s Channel 4, The Audience takes a person who is facing a life-changing decision and opens their dilemma up to 50 members of the public from different walks of life who will follow the person and draw on their collective life experiences to find resolution by meeting the protagonist’s friends, family and colleagues.

Leonie Lowe, MD of Granada Media Australia, which is a fully owned subsidiary of ITV said: “I’m delighted Network Ten has secured this commission and look forward to working with them again. It’s a highly-anticipated prime-time series.”

Paul Buccieri, managing director of ITV Studios International and CEO of ITV Studios America said: “Broadcasters around the world are eager to secure the rights to The Audience. This is testament to the originality of The Garden format. We look forward to working with our partners around the world to start local productions of this unique show.”

The Australian rights come as the format has also being been picked up by French network TF1 and Dutch station RTL4.

The series will be executive produced by Rod Parker of Granada Media Australia.
