Crawlspace begins production

The sci-fi action thriller Crawlspace has begun production in Melbourne, under the direction of Justin Dix.

Crawlspace is a very exciting and ambitious project that I am thrilled to be involved in. Justin Dix is a promising new filmmaker, and, true to the science fiction/thriller genre, he has created a nail biting script with plenty of scope for the actors and special effects team,” said executive producer Greg McLean.

Crawlspace is produced by Dix, John Finemore and Nicolas Sherry, with Steve Topic as co-producer. Executive producers include McLean, James Hoppe, Craig McMahon, Pete Ford, Silvio Salom and Stephen Wools. Crawlspace i’s a joint project for special effects make-up studio Wicked of Oz, Maker Films and Wolf Creek Pictures.

The cast includes Ditch Davey and Amber Clayton. The story follows “a squad of elite soldiers sent to infiltrate and extract the lead science team from Pine Gap, Australia’s top secret underground military compound, after it comes under attack from unknown forces”. They encounter a woman with no memory of who she is or what she is doing there, and discover that the facility is a testing ground for something sinister.

The film will be filmed entirely at Docklands Sutios in Melbourne, throughout April and May.

UPDATE: A spokesperson for Crawlspace has told Encore that the film was financed privately, with a budget “under $3 million”. The film is expected to have a traditional release, altough no details about sales agents or distributors were revealed.
