Cassidy Knowlton appointed Crikey editor
Crikey managing editor Cassidy Knowlton has been named editor of the Private Media-owned title, replacing departing editor Marni Cordell.
Knowlton has been with Private Media for more than five years, taking up the role of production editor with property news website Property Observer when it launched in 2011.
She joined Crikey in February 2013, becoming managing editor two years ago.
Cordell announced she was leaving the title last month to join Buzzfeed as head of news, where she starts on April 19.
In a statement Knowlton said: “Marni has been a wonderful editor and she has shaped Crikey into the razor-sharp must-read publication it is today. We will miss her very much.
“I have always adored Crikey’s irreverence and full commitment to independent and savvy journalism.
“Its political nous and behind-the-scenes insight are second to none. It is an honour and a privilege to be given the keys to the kingdom, especially in an election year.
“I honestly believe Crikey is the best publication in Australia, and I feel as though I have won the journalistic lottery.”
Crikey invited me via Facebook to “have a taste of Crikey” to entice me to pay for a subscription. They sent me the emails with headings but none of the links to the stories worked. Needless to say I didn’t sign up…

Crikey is still going? I stop reading it when Jonathan Green took over and ruined it. Now if only they could bring back Stephen Mayne 🙂

So where does that leave Bernard Keane?

This is another death nail to journalism. More click bait to pay for advertising dollars that is all we get these days.
