Cummins & Partners CEO Chris Jeffares moonlights at brewery business

Cummins & Partners CEO, Chris Jeffares, will now be splitting his time to support his brother’s brewery Stomping Ground.

Global CEO and co-founder, Sean Cummins, told Mumbrella all staff and clients have been made aware of Jeffares new interest in the business and it is business as usual at the agency.

“Chris is still involved as a director and founder of the agency,” Cummins said.

“He has an interest in his brothers’ burgeoning beer business Stomping Ground. So he is dividing time between these interests. All our clients and staff know this and we continue to have him as part of our team.”

Responding to Mumbrella’s question about whether Jeffares’ role as CEO had changed as a result Cummins said: “The CEO role is an external designation. We slapped those titles on us so externally people know what we do. Internally we are partners and founders. As I said before CJ is splitting his time between our two businesses and we are business as usual in terms of everything else.”

Cummins & Partners counts beer label Sapporo and Pernod Ricard Australia amongst its clients.

Jeffares is amongst the group of remaining founders partners of the agency: Cummins, Kirsty Muddle, Steven Tortosa, Faye Collay and Michelle Wensor.

Cummins & Partners was founded under the name of Cummins Ross, but rebranded in 2014 when co-founder and executive creative director Jason Ross left the business.

Jeffares new business interest is reminiscent of Liquid Ideas’ founder Stuart Gregor who co-founded Four Pillars Gin in 2013, and stepped away from the day-to-day of the agency in 2017 as the distillery became his primary focus. Gregor ceased his work with Liquid Ideas in 2019, however Four Pillars remains one of its clients. Lion took a 50% stake in Four Pillars in 2019.

Jeffares has been contacted by Mumbrella for comment.
