Cutting Edge expands into Melbourne

Cutting Edge’s new Victorian facilities will create 65 jobs, according to the Minister for Information and Communication Technology, John Lenders.

The post-production/VFX company first made the announcement back in March, but the Victorian government has now revealed that the move is expected to generate up to $17m a year for the state.

“Victoria presents us with a number of important advantages including being on the ground to access the growing number of television, sport and film productions being made here, access to highly-skilled staff and use of world-class infrastructure,” said Cutting Edge CFO Matthew Lawson.

Lawson added that the Victorian Government has been “fundamental” in enabling Cutting Edge to make this investment.Cutting Edge will be based temporarily at the Melbourne Central City Studios, while it finds a permanent facility.

Lenders claimed that the news, combined with last week’s announcement of the National Broadband Network’s Melbourne headquarters, cemented the city as “the ICT capital of Australia”.
