D&AD set to explore the Future of the Creative Landscape in Australia

D&AD is to curate a panel event this October in Sydney.

The announcement:

D&AD is to curate a special panel event this October in Sydney, bringing together two creative giants and one of the industry’s top trend strategists to dissect the most progressive and disruptive advertising campaigns of 2014.

The Future Creative Landscape: Insights, Innovations and Opportunities, in partnership with Google Australia, will see three industry heavyweights offer up their thoughts on the most exciting opportunities and innovations shaping the future of commercial creativity.

  • Chairing the panel is Tom Uglow, Creative Director at Google Creative Labs. A trustee of D&AD, Tom was the driving force behind Google’s Creative Lab in Europe before moving to Sydney, Australia to work on experimental projects that help connect people and use Google, Android and YouTube in creative ways. Many of his projects are collaborations with charities, agencies and cultural organisations around the world that help artists and creators explore new forms of creative practice using digital tools.
    • Joining Tom will be Global Chief Creative Officer at R/GA, Nick Law. For 13 years, Nick has helped shape R/GA’s strategic and creative vision, combining world-class creativity and break-through technology. Recognised as one of the world’s most influential creatives, Nick has twice been named in the Creativity 50 and has won every major international creative award.
  • Barrie Barton, Strategy & Insights Director and Founder of Right Angle Studio, rounds off the international panel. Since 2005, Barrie has overseen the creative output of the studio and established its enviable reputation as one of the most progressive and effective ideas agencies in the country. In amongst work for clients he also founded Rooftop Cinema, Golden Age Cinema & Bar and Australia’s seminal online city guides The Thousands, earning him acknowledgement in The Age Magazine’s Top 100 Most Influential Melburnians.

The panel session will be held on Thursday 23rd October from 6:30pm-8:30pm at Google, Level 2, 1 Darling Island Road, Pyrmont, NSW 2009
