The Daily Telegraph and The Sunday Telegraph today announced the launch of a new mobile site.

Available to readers in November 2011, m.thetelegraph.com.au has been created specifically to offer a premium browsing experience for internet enabled smartphones.

The new site will feature an enhanced design, fast updates and a range of new features including Sydney’s first integrated and customisable mobile travel alert service.

The alerts will offer browsers the opportunity to receive real-time route specific travel alerts and updates for rail, road and train, directly to their handsets-a first for Sydney commuters.

Michelle d’Almeida, Nationwide News’ digital director said: ”Our research tells us that Sydney is a city on the move, with the average time spent travelling each day a staggering 81 minutes.

“Media consumption patterns have changed to reflect this, and we know there is a strong desire from readers to access our content at a time and place that fits these increasingly busy lifestyles.

“m.thetelegraph.com.au is a crucial part of our strategy to offer the best experience to readers across multiple platforms at all times of the day.”

The site contains the majority of articles and galleries published on thetelegraph.com.au, updating at key commuter times, plus simplified social media sharing including Facebook and Twitter.

The new site will also offer users the ability to customize content across the site featuring improved navigation with a quick menu offering simplified access to key content sections.

Ag Giramondo advertising director for The Daily Telegraph and The Sunday Telegraph said: “The new site is great news for advertisers as well as users, offering a wealth of new and innovative opportunities.

“Mobile is a platform that we know readers use extensively on-the-go, creating a highly engaged audience. Mobile advertising is fast becoming a proven channel for driving brand engagement, interaction and response.

“With the ongoing reach of our newspapers, our highly popular iPad application and now a premium mobile site, we are able to offer advertisers a full range of opportunities to talk to a highly desirable audience wherever they may be throughout the day.”
