Dancing With The Stars gets lowest audience ever while The Voice dominates Sunday night

TheVoiceAuReality TV took a hit last night with both The Voice and Dancing With the Stars suffering from audience decline, while Ten posted its second consecutive Sunday of a sub-10 per cent audience share.

Dancing With The Stars dropped to its lowest ever audience with 673,000 tuning in at 8pm for the two-hour run, after getting 707,000 viewers last week according to OzTam’s metro overnight rankings.

While The Voice topped the night and all the demographics it also suffered decline with 1.404m viewers at 7pm, down from 1.467m viewers last Sunday. Ten’s top show was a repeat of Modern Family ay 8pm which had 497,000 viewers.

The ABC managed a bigger audience share on the night with 11.8 per cent compared to 9 per cent for Channel Ten, while Nine won the evening with 27.5 per cent, comfortably ahead of Seven’s 19 per cent.

The public broadcaster enjoyed success with Grand Designs at 7.40pm which had 973,000 viewers, and drama The Politician’s Husband  which managed 625,000 from 8.30pm.

Both Seven and Nine ran hour-long news bulletins at 6pm with 1.291m for Nine and 1.276m for Seven.

60 Minutes, also on Nine, had 936,000 at 9pm beating Seven’s Sunday Night which had 895,000 at 7pm.

Saturday night saw two international sporting matches take place. Unsurprisingly the inevitable conclusion of The Ashes on Gem could only muster an average of 176,000 viewers for its two and a half-hour run from 7.30pm as England wrapped up the match and the series inside 40 minutes.

However, the early finish to the cricket bolstered the audience for the Bledisloe Cup, with 457,000 viewers tuning in for the conclusion of an historic Australian victory over the All Blacks as the match overran, with 372,000 tuning in for the main part of the match. It was also watched by 222,000 on Fox Sports nationally.
