Daniel Monaghan departs 10 to take on executive director role at Foxtel Group

Paramount Australia and New Zealand’s senior vice president of content and programming, Daniel Monaghan, is departing the role, and his next move has already been announced.

Monaghan will become Foxtel Group’s new executive director of entertainment content in February next year, succeeding Wendy Moore.

Dan Monaghan is swapping Paramount for Foxtel Group

The new role will see Monaghan take responsibility for entertainment, drama and lifestyle content, strategy and channels across Binge and Foxtel. He will be charged with setting the benchmark for premium and engaging programming, and delivering stories which captivate audiences, champion Australian voices, and share Australian stories with the world, Foxtel Group said.

Monaghan’s new employer noted how over two decades at 10 and Paramount, he had been instrumental in shaping programming strategy, and driving significant audience engagement and revenue growth.

“At Paramount+, Dan spearheaded the streamer’s local commissioning slate of originals across scripted, unscripted and kids’ content, driving Paramount+ to become Australia’s fastest-growing streaming service four years in a row. Highlights include breakout hits such as Fake, The Inspired Unemployed: Impractical Jokers and Last King of the Cross, Logie-nominated children’s drama Rock Island Mysteries, as well as the launch of NCIS: Sydney, Paramount+’s most-watched local original on launch,” a statement from the Foxtel Group said.

“At Network 10, Dan successfully launched and refreshed major franchises including The Masked Singer, Australian Survivor, Hunted, Have You Been Paying Attention?, The Cheap Seats, MasterChef, Taskmaster and I’m a Celebrity, Get Me Out of Here, while revitalising legacy brands such as Thank God You’re Here and The Amazing Race.”

Paramount Australia has been approached for comment on plans for Monaghan’s replacement and the content team. Mumbrella understands an announcement or statement from Paramount is imminent.
