David Michôd to be SPAA Fringe keynote speaker
The Screen Producers Association of Australia (SPAA) has announced the keynote speaker for this years industry conference SPAA Fringe, will be David Michôd – writer/director of internationally acclaimed Australian film Animal Kingdom.
Michôd joins an impressive speaker line-up including Cora Olson, founding partner and producer at Present Pictures US, Hungry Beast’s Elmo Keep and the team behind Blame – David Lightfoot, Ryan Hodgson and Melissa Kelly.
SPAA describes Michôd achievements: “Michôd was catapulted from relative obscurity to filmmaking fame earlier this year, when his film, Animal Kingdom, was awarded the grand jury prize at Sundance Film Festival – an accolade which until then, had never been awarded to an Australian film. A crime thriller inspired by Melbourne’s Walsh Street murders that was 10 years in the making, Michôd will speak in-depth about his success and provide inspiration for other emerging filmmakers, writers, directors and producers on what can be achieved through ambition, sweat and the right connections.”
