David Mott, the man who put Masterchef on Ten ‘set for Nine Perth gig’
Ten’s former programming boss David Mott is set to return to television as boss of the newly purchased Nine Perth, The Australian reports.
Mott was ousted from Ten as ratings began to fall during the short-lived tenure of James Warburton as CEO.
The first anniversary of Mott’s departure will be in a week’s time.
Nine agreed to buy the Perth network from affiliate WIN in July.
Mott is one of Australia’s most respected programmers, with his greatest success being Masterchef, seen before it aired as an outside bet. His low point for he network was reality contest The Renovators, which failed to find an audience.
Perth is seen as a Seven stronghold. Nine’s intention if the purchase goes through will be to close the gap.
